Hello,

on November 15th I found a caterpillar of Noctua pronuba. for some days it ate much, then disappeared in the ground. On December 11th I found an fly in the jar. When I searched the earth I found 4 flies' pupae, one of them of course already empty.

By now three of the flies hatched, the first two have size of a little bit less than 1 cm, the third 7 or 8 mm.

What species or genus is it?

Best regards, Karola

Place of discovery: Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia, Mülheim an der Ruhr

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
