Hello,

I photographed this fly in Val Duron (TN), Italy, 1850m a.s.l. on August 2nd 2023. I think it is a Nephrotoma, but is it possible to identify its species from these photos?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Thank you for the correction! Upon uploading these photos to iNaturalist, it was also suggested to me by other users that this could be N. cornicina (https://www.inatu.../178818834).

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
