Hi,

Is it possible to say this is correct? If not, I would appreciate being put in the right direction.

Taken on 21st September, my garden south of Lincoln UK.

Size I think was ~4mm but I'm not certain. It was near a dead shrew.

2 pics with two closer crops.

Well, the scutellum and humeri are yellowish orange, so it is N inscripta.

Hey, Andrzej, Am i a fast student?

Thank you Ruud!

Can I join that accolade of being a fast learner? Actually I was going on the pic in the gallery, but I am cautious without knowing if there could be any similar which happened to have a bristle hiding somewhere. Grin

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
