Hallo!

Bavaria, 14.April
A 5-7mm Tachinidae, found on a way at the edge of a field. With some bushes and trees, near a forest.
ID possible? Billaea looks good I think. I have more pictures when needed.

Regards,
Dennis

Not Billaea, which has smaller antennae and a rounder head.

Hallo!
I looked again in the Diptera-Gallery and so I found 2 possibilities:
Bactromyia aurulenta and Nemorilla floralis. Nemorilla fits better.
But I have no idea if its even the right genus.

Regards,
Dennis

It's not Nemorilla, which has different antennae (second segment long).

Thank you Theo!

What do we have to see for a determination, the species?

Regards,
Dennis

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
