Is this Lonchaea chorea? Male, 4mm, on flowering Myrrhis odorata Sweet Cicely, Preston Montford Field Studies Centre, near Shrewsbury, north west England, 16 May 2006.

No luck this time. It belongs to Fannia (Fannidae) near the mucids.

Yes - I agree - too many bristles on the legs to be a Lonchaeid - never mind Susan there will be a handbook to the British Lonchaeidae arriving shortly which should help with identification .... Iain

Many thanks - Fannia is just as 'useful', as I have been wanting to get to grips with them too.

I'll keep an eye out for the new handbook - will you post something on this website to let us know when it is available?

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
