First of all I'm sorry for the very bad quality of the photos. I've made a video to show the typical platypezid behaviour, running very fast on the surface of leaves. The specimen on the video is the same of the photos. Yes Rui, it is true, it is L. dorsalis. I dindnt noticed this thread, because the word Platypezidae is not in the subject or the text, I am always serching for threads by this keyword, I am sorry I didnt react earlier. I know this behavior from some other species, but I didnt film it yet. I am glad you did! It is good to notice species of the tree or shrub, where platypezids do this movements. I saw a dorsalis today, indeed running like mad on a leaf of raspberry (Rubus daeus). Pictures: http://waarneming.nl/waarneming/view/71502828 For the pictures above: how do you exclude L. hungarica? |

This female is almost black coloured, the L. hungarica is much more brighter in coloration and also the abdomen is silvery grey colorated with only 20-30% blackish covered areas in L. hungarica.
