One pic only but I have cropped both ends so posting three.

Taken on 15th May 2009, looks a lot like Botanophila fugax to me but I don't know anything really! Females can be difficult I hear.Wink

Looks like Lasiomma strigilatum. If you think you can see minute hairs on eyes and 4 sternopleural (Katepisternal) setae then thats what it is.

Yes, I certainly would say there's minute hairs on the eyes, and I can see 4 setae on the Katepisternal although I'm not sure there isn't a couple of small ones near the bottom? Or is that small triangular part right at the bottom not part of the Katepisternal?

I cropped the pic to it's maximum, there are small black hairs visible on the bottom right of the eye at least, and maybe some fuzzy stuff elsewhere.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
