This fly was small (2-3 mm) and close to spiders (Heliophanus dubius).
I first tought it was an ant when looking at its behaviour. Ony this picture.

I'd say Chloropidae but there are not many with marked wings. Any other views?

Thanks for your suggestion Paul

This fly ran away when I took this picture and I could not find it any more.

Comparing it with other images I would say you are correct. However, that species should be about twice the size as quoted above...

Thanks again Paul and Stephane.

My memory of size could be bad thought it was a female Heliophanus dubius and she is quite big.

Hej Kurt!
This was fun! From the northern provinces of Sweden, there are only some old records of H.biumbrata from Jämtland and Norrbotten. This is the first record for Ångermanland and I am very happy to see this.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
