Hi, Yesterday evening I saw many grey flies sitting on the ripening panicles of the abundant Calamagrostis epigeios. According to the black abdomen marks I consider them Helina. Can be said more? Female Helina on photos feels always like Russian roulette.. Crossveins seems infuscated, arista long haired, prealar very short, 2+2 katepisternals and on one side 4 dc and on the other side 3dc ? ....maybe Helina confinis Joke |

Many thanks, Joke, you did your best (as always ). These little ones were so numerous, it would have been easy to take pictures also of a slim male. However, for technical reasons the fat females seemed to be better depictable by the camera. Now I know - males are needed... |
