Hello

Is this 6-7mm sized Syrphid an Eumerus sogdianus species?

Date 11.05.2014; in an forrest near Stuttgart (Southwest Germany).

Hello Andreas,

This is indeed a male Eumerus. However, the base of the third femur is not visible. So E. funeralis cannot be excluded. The ocellar triangle does however, exclude E. sogdianus. The best way is to identify the specimen is to examine the genitalia.

Now it looks good for Eumerus funeralis?
