Hi,

Here is an Eumerus from Croatia, do you have any idea of the specie?

Have you collected it?
It looks very interesting, but to bring it to a species level is too risky based on a picture.

This is indeed an interesting specimen! My guess is that it belongs a still undescribed species near Eumerus grandis. This species is currently known from a few specimens from Serbia and Croatia. A pity that you didn't collect it...

Cheers
Dieter

In 70% alcohol please, would be best.
But if you have dried specimens, that is also okay.
The more males, the better, but if you have caught pairs/copulas of Eumerus and/or Paragus, then I would like to see them as a couple.
Merodon, both is fine, but males is the best. Of the other genera both is fine.
Of Platycheirus males are preferred, and copula.

I also sent you a PM,
Cheers, André

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
