That is the male of Panzeria (previously: Ernestia) laevigata.

This call was based on the width of vertex.
However, it has been claimed correctly that there are easily overlooked apical scutellar bristles and moreover the claws are pretty long.
Hence, it cannot be laevigata and must be in the rudis-complex.
IN Europe so far only rudis, but more species in the eastern Palaearctic. So please collect so we can see the genitalia !

Thanks for the information! I have kept the fly - but it guess it is necessary to have a fresh specimen (not a dry one) to see the genetalia.

No, a dry one is no problem, simply more work.
THe genitalia can be extracted.

Make an old paper extremely wet and put it in a plastic container. Make sure there is only damp, no real water. Put the fly on a tempex on the paper, close the box and leave it 8-12 hours. More like 12, in this case.
THen the abdomen will be flexible and you can pull out the genitalia with a pin.

In Panzeria, the genitalia is very stuck in the abdomen, so you probably need to use a lot of force.

Good luck

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
