Yes, picture 1 shows a female of E. lineata.
Picture 2 is a female of eristalis arbustorum, because of the completely white face and the long haired arista, which is just visible. The female of Eristalis abusiva, which looks much like this, has a bare arista!

Hi I would call the first picture E horticola in the UK, but I asume it is now known as E lineata (must try to keep up).

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
