Hello! I guess this 5 mm fly from the light in our garden (again...) is a Heleomyzid (northwest Germany). This thread seems useful for me too, may I ask an additional question on Eccoptomera (females)? I caught one such specimen in Ab: Turku (Finland) 22.6. 2009, and the remarkable thing in it was its colour: totally red-orange. I suspected E. pallescens, but this photo reveals that at least in the above case the thorax is dark. Yet it also has two dorsal preapicals on the 2nd tibia (as Andrzej highlighted), so is there colour variation or sexual dimorphism in this species? My keys (Bei-Bienko, Collin) are verbally very scanty with these female heleomyzids... |
