Berlin - September - male - 4.7mm I found this at my balcony in September and i recognize it as a Bibionidae. I think it is a male Dilophus febrilis. I am hoping for a confirmation. Also, are there any keys to Palaearctic Bibionidae? Best wishes, John johnes81 attached the following image: [31.92Kb] Edited by johnes81 on 20-11-2019 12:19 John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |

Hello and Thank you, Eric! I appreciate you taking time to look at this post and reply. I know very little about Bibionidae. It is nice to have a confirmation. Best wishes , John John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |

We still use Duda in Lindner. For Dilophus, there are excellent reviews by J.-P. Haenni. Theo |

I couldn't find any relevant documents by Haenni either. However, i found a Swedish document which contains drawings of male genitalia and fore tibiae. So this is a good start too. http://www.sef.nu/download/entomologisk_tidskrift/et_1992/ET%201992%204%2047-51.pdf I am happy to have info about D. borealis. However, i don't know much about the author Theo Zeegers. I'll have to research this guy I hope that you have a splendid day, John Edited by johnes81 on 21-11-2019 16:58 John and Nini. John, if you wish to get Haenni's 1982 paper about Dilophus revision, write me on lib.dvorak[at]seznam.cz You can get it via "www.uschovna.cz" cloud with instructions how to download. It is a little more than 10 MB file ;-) Libor |
