Hello, this fly puzzles me... I have only this photo from a distance of 3 m or so. It was not small, maybe 10-12 mm, but I have no idea, what it could be. Is it possible to tell the family at least? Found on a fallow by a small creek today (northwest Germany). That species is not as abundant here as quadrifasciatus, but I had one in mid July, also in our courtyard. Thanks for your attention!
