Size just a few mm. Found in river forelands river Rhine Netherlands, on the shore of a small water. ID?.....

Seems to be male Colobaea punctata, Sciomyzidae

Dick, thats a very good record for the Benelux!

In Belgium we can count observations on one hand, latest observation in 1960! In the Netherlands they have been found more recently though, from reared material along the Rhine (if I recall the river correctly).

And the picture would be very nice for the gallery too.

No, it is a male too. I found three specimens last week, this first record for my region. Very nice picures Dick.
