Hello This nice little Chrysopilus sp. has come up on the Danish nature site Fugleognatur.dk. We agree that it is most likely to be Ch. laetus but the very pronounced dark band on the wing and on the abdomen is rather confusing. As yet Ch. laetus is unrecorded from Denmark. The photo was taken by Finn Krone 17. VII in predominantly deciduous forest on the southern part of the island of Sjaelland. The specimen was not collected. Thanks, Theo. I'll pass it on to Finn Krone. He'll be delighted. Discovering new species is always great! The wing band-issue is still unresolved, I guess. A question of variability, perhaps. Some have it, others don't. Walther |
