Bibio clavipes and lepidus are two black species with swollen hind tarsi that fly late in the year. |

Quoting a key to Scottish species: Stigma extending well into costal cell; females all black. Bibio lepidus Stigma ends on the vein; females all reddish. Bibio clavipes The stigma is the dark spot on the wing. I can't see clearly whether it crosses R1. |
