Took a photo of this beauty today, 21st August, 2020, in Pötzleinsdorf near Vienna. This fly was really remarkable. The thorax was so reflective that I could not only see my ring flash and me on the surface, but also the trees nearby and the blue sky. This never gets boring. A female Chrysosomopsis. There used to be only one species in Europe, but unfortunately I am responsible for splitting it inti two, based on the male genitalia. And both species occur in Austria .... Theo |
