Bickel's 1994 revision of Sciapodinae mentions a species group of Chrysosoma with "dense cream-colored modified setae along the venter of abdominal segments 1 to 5". The group includes C. floccosum ranging from Taiwan to Malaysia, C. hirtiventris from Sumatra, C. seticorne from Maluku, and some undescribed species including two from the Philippines.
