Hi, This tiny yellow one sat on a house wall in southern Brandenburg on 6th June, 2015. The shining green eyes point to Chyromyidae, and as there are discal setulae on the scutellum, it should be genus Chyromya. The third antennal segment is yellow, thus C. flava or the possibly conspecific C. femorellum would be an option. So I would like to ask: 1. How certain is my ID? 2. Is it a male? 3. Hi Sundew, Nice photo's! It is indeed a Chyromya on account of the setulose scutellum. The thickened femora and the darkened tip of the abdomen indicate it is a male. The entire yellow front tarsae and yellow antennae indicate C. flava or C. femorellum. Whether those are indeed separate species is somewhat unclear. For separating those species you'd need to examine the terminalia. So that can only happen if you collected the specimen. For literature you'd need Gibbs 2007 & Anderson 1987 (if I remeber that correctly). If you'd want those publications send me a pm... Kind regards, Ectemnius |

Thank you for all explanations! Though I rarely come across a Chyromya, it would be good to have some literature at hand, so your offer sounds very good.
