Hello

This greenish and a bit blue shining fly was siiting on flowers in my garden (Stuttgart, Southwest Germany). Date: 29. Oktober 2015, bodylenght 7mm.

Calliphoridae? Bellardia? Melinda? Something else?

Regards
Andreas

No, they are not on the same line : 3 is the post-alar.
This one gave me a headache. In my (not expert) opinion, this is Bellardia bayeri., the only european described Bellardia with infuscated lower calypter. I'm not sure it has the required brown spot on parafacial from these pictures.
Stephane.

Hi Stephane,

The fly is in my Refrigerator :-) So I can try to photograph some more Details. But I don't know, where this "brown spot on parafacial" is... (my english is very bad...)

Andreas

It should have a dark spot (eine dunkle Fleck) on the upper part of facial plates about this place (see illustration).

I don't know if other pictures can reveal this.

If the fly is dead you can also send it to me for genitalia examination.

Hi,
I'm very happy to confirm Bellardia bayeri after genitalia examination. The differences with Bellardia viarum are subtle, it took some time before I was completely sure.
