on 2015-06-26 I found these flies on faeces near Darmstadt, Hesse. Is it a Ulidiidae? Regards, Ingo

Yes, the golden tergites 4-5 clearly show these are E. notata, now the 5th invider of that genus to Europe.

Have you collected any? I am in Naturkunde Museum Berlin, c/o Joachim Ziegler right now and for the next 2.5 months and will be glad to see the specimens and keep them in berliner collection!!!

Thank you both.
Sorry Valery, I have not collected any animal there. This area is a nature reserve and it would be a little bit difficult and time consuming to get an official permit. But I am planing to visit the location again (in the next days) and than I will have a special look to dog faeces outside of the prohibited zone... Greetings, Ingo

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
