I would appreciate help to identify this Tephritid fly, photographed today 22 April in my garden (Ipswich, VC25 East Suffolk, TM166450). The nearest I could find in I M White's handbook is Euleia heraclei. Is that correct?

I have the specimen if more images are needed.

Best wishes,
Martin

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
