I photographed and captured this fly at the outskirt of Szeged, S Hungary, on the day before yesterday. At first I couldn't find anything really similar, but then I found the redescription of Bibio handlirschi here: http://www.museum-neuchatel.ch/new/images/dynamic/gens/pdf_JPH/Papp_Haenni_2007_Bibio_handlirschi.pdf The specimen fits perfectly the description, including diagnostic characters like color pattern of scutum, color of haltera and the shape of hind femur, so I think it is a female of Bibio handlirschi Duda. But this sp. seems to be extremely rare in Hungary, so I would greatly appreciate confirmation of this ID! Thanks in advance!
