Hello !
I found this fly on the picture window when I opened the curtains.
I've scoured all the families in the gallery, looked through the DrawWing.org wing comments and of course looked on the net for a diptera with an orange thorax with black stripes but nothing !...
I'm in complete darkness and a lead would be welcome.
Thank you for your opinion.

Bonsoir.

Hello
Are the black stripes on the thorax specific to females?
Thank you.

Bonjour.
Est-ce que les bandes noires sur le thorax sont spécifiques aux femelles ?
Merci.

No, the stripes are not specific to females.
I acknowledge that you gained, by yourself, some information on this "orchid fly". You should change the title of your thread.

You'll find more information at http://micropezid...my/term/67
Perhaps you would be so kind as to also post it on iNaturalist, this will ensure that the record is sent to GBIF.
There's a project there which covers this group at https://www.inatu...tanypezids
Many thanks
Darwyn

Oh- you've put it on Les Mondes des Insectes - they post to GBIF too - eventually

Any chance you could add the Lat/Long to that posting please.
I realise it's your home but the coordinates of the nearest town is good enough.
Google Earth may be the easiest method

Merci

Darwyn

Hello Darwyn
So I put the coordinates on the site of my municipality and opened the observation place which was private.
Is it suitable?
