Elachiptera bimaculata (Loew, 1845) (Chloropidae) with its typical form of the short scutellum, its well separated yellow apical projections and the 2 prominent longer orbital bristles. In the Mediterranean this very abundant species is extremely variable concerning its body colour and its dark markings. Compare the notes on E. austriaca: http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=53106 |
