I see features of Tachinidae and Sarcophagidae. I am lost Frown

Taken in the outskirts of Madrid, by a river on the 22nd April 2012. Any help with ID will be most appreciated! Smile

Interesting ... I can see the reason for your indecision. I would guess Sarcophagidae but it is difficult without being able to check the subscutellum Smile

There is no doubt that this is a male of Blaesoxipha sp. The abdominal colour pattern is distinctly less 'checker-board' like.
