I'm interested to know what this is too, I had the same fly! My pics are not quite as good.

Look at Diastatidae in the gallery, Diastata costata looks close but the pics are not easy to see.

Diastata cf. fuscula, but cannot be certain it isn't flavicosta.

Thanks a lot! I must admit, that I didn't even remember, that I had that family already... awkward I'm afraid I also missed Pauls reply on that old thread. Sorry!

According to "Entomofauna germanica" D. flavicosta does not occur in Germany (only adusta, costata, fuscula, nebulosa, ornata and vagans - but the check list is 7 or 8 years old), so it would be fuscula?

Best chance of it being fuscula, especially because flavicosta appears to be a more northern species.
