This fly was photographed in Almerķa - SPAIN by Francisco Rodriguez who granted me that these two photos can be uploaded to the gallery. The fly was seen in him garden.. This is one of the amazing southernmost european tachinids I've seen: Trigonospila transvittata. Hope you like it. Date: 2009.07.31 jorgemotalmeida attached the following image: ![]() [143.93Kb] |

I had no keys for it, (yes for the other species) so left it as "cf." because it was the one recorded here, any reference for keys or description for this one is welcome BEATIFUL ![]() * (edit) I link to the 3 pics in IV that could be T. cf. transvittata, if anyone can help - http://www.insect...earch.html - http://www.insect...earch.html - http://www.insect...earch.html Thanks in advance Edited by paqui on 17-01-2010 00:49 |

Paqui... the another Trigonospila known for Europe is T. ludio that is photographed here: http://www.h3.dio...5-128.html . This is a Trigonospila transvittata that Francisco showed to me. As you are aware the name transvittata means transversal vittae that is the case for the two photos above and the links that you showed as well. In ludio, the species is more greyish and has no complete transversal vittae as the P. transvittata. Of course, I'm open to someone disagree with the ID of this one. I agreed with the ID given in those links you gave, but without the cf. Edited by jorgemotalmeida on 17-01-2010 02:29 |

EXCELLENT !! Trigonospila is very little seen. I agree with transvittata, moreover, it fits the distribution. Theo |
