Hi

The head is just impressive! Frown The fly has about 5 mm.

What could this tachinid be?

It could be Phryxe.

If so, it is highly aberrant I see only DC 3+3.
It would key out to Ph. hirta (= setigera)

Hmm, yes ... an otherwise anonymous tachinid with: hairy eyes, dark palps, random median discals & erect apical scutellars would suggest Phryxe ... but I am hoping Jorge catches plenty in his new super Malaise trap and then we can all have a go at keying it! Wink

It is a very nice malaise trap, but with my hand still hurting... I cannot mount any malaise. Sad But this week or so, I will mount it. Smile
