hi flyforum, I watched this Fannia sp. on Alnus-leaves. These Fannia's where interested in the Symphyta-larvae which where eating of this leaves. Later on, I found remains of these symphyta's, just skins or dead larvae? And I could see that these Fannia's where interested in these 'things'. I'll publice some pictures of these flies. pict1 : Fannia and living Symphyta larvae Robert Heemskerk attached the following image: [158.55Kb] Edited by Robert Heemskerk on 10-10-2008 13:42 Greeting, Robert Heemskerk ---- WWW: http://robertheem...ndedag.htm --- |

I should think the Fannia is investigating the cast skin of the larva. |
