This fly was sitting on my garagedoor mid April this year. Location just outside Stockholm Sweden
Wing about 4 to possibly 5 mm.
Is it possible to say what genus it is or even species?

Wing about 4 to possibly 5 mm. The image is slightly "darkened" to get better contrast

Anthomyiidae. The flat abdomen suggests Delia. Is there a row of many short posteroventrals on the hind tibia? I see only a few hairs.

Many thanks John for your answer.
I have had a look at images of Delia sp and I agree that "my specimen" looks like a Delia sp. I attach two new (not very good) images of the hind tibia from two different angels. There are many short "hairs", but I don't think a supposed row of posteroventrals is visible?. (I compared with images of Delia platura, the most common Delia species here in Sweden)
There are more than 50 different Delia species here in Sweden so I don't believe we can get to the actual species - but perhaps agree that this is a Delia sp.?

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
