Hi * locality - Silgueiros - Viseu - PORTUGAL * date - 2007.08.18 * size - 6 mm (medium fly) * habitat - open land * substrate - on Mentha sp. flowers. Scutellum clrearly yellow. If the Veen's key has all species known... we have just two possibilities: 3.a. Frons with a longitudinal black stripe from antennal implant upwards. 11-12 mm. NL, B, D. -> Conops scutatus Meigen 3.b. Frons with a black cross stripe from one eye to the other. 11-12 mm. Frons with a black cross stripe from one eye to the other.. So Conops silaceus. Did you confirm?

This is Conops flavipes with yellow scutellum. (confirmation made by David Clements). |
