Hello,

I found 6 of those ones on the leaves of Valeriana in my garden (4,5mm - Belgium - 27/06/2013).
Could it be Liriomyza strigata or Liriomyza valerianae ?

Thanks
Christine

As to the black antennae, I suppose Phytomyza. Milos will surely help. I am going to post a comparable fly, too.

Thanks Sundew,
In fact, it looks more like Phytomyza, but is it possible with this entirely yellow scutellum ?
Here are two more pictures of the head (antennae are reddish at the base, black at the apex).

This is Phytomyza elegans (Meigen, 1830) - female. This species has not yet been bred, but it is frequently caught on the flowers of Valeriana spp. It still seems probable that the larvae feed on this plant, possibly forming root-galls.
