I want share with you one of most spectacular spiders I ever seen. I photographed this Eresus sandaliatus male.

Absolutely lovely, congratulations! Beats Argiope bruennichi that I admire on the dry meadow in front of our institute every day. Is E. niger a synonym or another species?

Yes, Eresus niger is now synonym of Eresus cinnabarinus. E. sandaliatus is another species and there are two more species in Iberian peninsula, I think. But I can't distinguish.

Congratulations Jorge, I never have seen these spectacular spiders.
