Hi * locality - Silgueiros - Viseu - PORTUGAL * date - 2007.04.22 * size - 8 mm (medium fly) * habitat - woodland, near river * substrate - Heracleum sp. * temperature - 30 ?C no proclinate orbitals, yellow tarsi, and the interval between the eyes is distinctly less than width of 1 eye, so I think this is Tachina fera. jorgemotalmeida attached the following image: [194.53Kb] Edited by jorgemotalmeida on 23-04-2007 11:45 |

Little, round antenna 3 ... orange legs ... should be Tachina at least, but not sure which one - you might have magnicornis down there too, and maybe even more species not listed in the Central European key |

I agree with Jorge This should be fera. Chris, they have praeceps as well, as some other species (casta). So take care !! Theo |
