This is a species of Lonchaea, family Lonchaeidae. Their larvae live behind bark of dead treas and feed on other insects larvae.

At last a Lonchaeid! as Paul has already said this is a female Lonchaeid sp, but sorry to ruin the Easter theme I don't think that these are her eggs! Lonchaea eggs are white and sausage shaped. Lonchaeid females are not easy to ID from photos but judging by the all black tarsomeres, pale squamal fringe and darkened wings I would guess at Setisquamalonchaea fumosa a common species over much of central and western Europe

That's a big name for such a small fly.

Thanks,

Ben

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
