Size approx. 8-10mm,sitting on a Lavender plant in my kitchen. Sat for about 30minutes tasting the leaves. Took the pot outside to get rid of it, and it just dropped off as though drugged. Don't try it at home folks. On second thoughts......

Seems to be one of the boreo-alpine species:
epaulette dark, no reddish beard (?)

Could be uralensis? The finer hairs on the lower occiput are pale to reddish, but I don't think the hairs on the genae are. I think they are black.

Well, SArah, I'm not sure what they have in Scotland, but uralensis or loewi was my secret thought as well.

Thank you for the ID. I have C. uralensis on my checklist for Shetland.
Thanks for taking the time Susan, Zeegers and I suppose SArah also.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
