this beauty was spotted near arboreal ferns under betula, fagus trees and near a streamer.

Can it be, that the upwards bristles on the humeral callus are typical for that species ??

i don't know but the upward bristles depart from proepisternum.
From humeral callus depart 2 reclinate bristles.

Hey Susan, I think you should take Jorge's quizzes more seriously; just like I do.

I don't think there was a bear. I think Chris is watching soccer and quaffing a few cold ones. But from what I see of some of the British fans (read hooligans) Chris may be safer wrestling that bear than attending a fooball match.

no. Siphona has a conspicuous proboscis for example, which is not the case. Smile Also the profile of head is not typical for it.

Well, I think it is a Tachinid, but beyond that I have absolutely no idea, so Chris definitely needs to stop messing about with the mega-fauna and take a look. Perhaps offer the bear a beer and set it down to watch the Olympics on telly if it's at a loose end with no one to wrestle?

the profile head is unmistakable for Leskia. Leskia has upwards brisltes on abdomen too (not seen here thoughPfft). Smile
