Hi Nikita,

Both flies are females of Opomyza germinationis (Linnaeus, 1758).

Thank you Jan.

Hi Nikita,

I don't know for certain what you mean with the vi bristles. The ones behind the ocelli? If that is what you mean, then the answer is no, that is not the difference. These bristles are absent in both genera (but present in the genus Anomalochaeta. The shape of the wings is best to separate the two genera. In Opomyza the wings have well developed alula which are absent in Geomyza. Furthermore the basal and apical setae on the scutellum are about equal in length in Opomyza whereas in Geomyza the apical setae are much longer than the basal ones.

Thank you Jan, I hope I found your differences.
Seta on added image is vibrisae or not?

Hi Nikita,

Yes you are right, that is a vibrissa. It is not as obvious in all species of the genus Geomyza though. You will get enough experience quickly enough to separate the two genera (Geomyza and Opomyza) by their overall appearance.
