Hello,
This is my first post on this forum so my apologies if something is at the wrong location or when I don't give enough information.
In August 2020, I photographed a small diptera in Kootwijk, Netherlands at the sand drift, on a clump of purple heather. I saw it was some species of Gymnosoma, so I uploaded it on waarneming.nl and asked for the determination on the forum, but they didn't know and said I should ask it over here ;)
The link for the exact location and two pictures can be found here: https://waarnemin...199889997/
Unfortunately, I haven't got better pictures, it disappeared quickly.
I'm looking forward to a reaction, hopefully, somebody can help me over here.
Ps. I have some more observations on waarneming.nl which aren't validated yet, I am planning to ask those as well, should I ask them one by one or more as a list in one thread?
Regards, Jacob Molenaar.

Hi Jacob, and welcome to diptera.info forum.
Gymnosoma is a diffcult genus and I fear it's unfortunately not possible to go to the species level from your photos.

It's more effective and durable to add your photos directly to your thread instead of using links which may disappear after a while.

You should open a new thread for every species to attract the experts for fly-families but you may add several photos of different views to the same thread (see the FAQs).

Greetings, Eric
