SW France last night. Smallish: 3 - 4 mm long.
I think it is Chironomini, but can we get to the genus ?

I had this genus in mind, but the rings on the legs made me wonder.

I don't recognize the species, but it does seem to have the constricted base of the pre-genital tergite typical of this genus.
