I encountered this today (31st May 2020) in an old sandpit in northeastern Lower Saxony (Germany). This is a very xerothermic habitat with little vegetation and open soils. The fly was foraging on Thymus sp.

Hello,

these pseudo-Tachinas are on the wing here, too, in the last days. They were identified in this forum as Peleteria rubescens last year (from exactly the same location).
