Meanwhile I read lots of old threads about anthomyids with a plumose arista and compiled the important characters. I am sure that it is a Hylemya because of:
- arista long haired,
- acrostichals close together with no hairs between the rows,
- scutellum bare in the middle,
- 2+2 katepisternal bristles,
- 3 posterodorsal bristles on tibia 3.
Concerning the species with grey abdomen and orange legs, the very similar H. vagans and H. nigrimana can be told apart by the colouration of the fore femora:
H. vagans: fore femora infuscated,
H. nigrimana: fore femora clear yellow.
After comparison of many pictures I declare my female H. nigrimana. If somebody can convince my that I am on the wrong track, I'd be delighted to hear his/her arguments. This forum is so great for learning!
