Good morning,

I would like to know if this species belongs to Anthomyia pluvialis (Linnaeus, 1758). It was collected in a pan trap, in Palma (Majorca).

Looking at the shape of the 5th sternite, in which the space between the surstylus is more square (broad and round in A. quinquemaculata) and with the spot at wingbase narrowly connected to the lateral spot above…..A. pluvialis seems right.
The arista should have very short pubescence though..(hairs shorter than basal width)!!
You can compare this with your A. quinquemaculata.

Unfortunately it has lost the arista, but it fits well when I compare the 5th sternite and both spots.

Thank you very much for all this information, Johanna.
