Berlin - September - male - 4.7mm

I found this at my balcony in September and i recognize it as a Bibionidae. I think it is a male Dilophus febrilis. I am hoping for a confirmation.

Also, are there any keys to Palaearctic Bibionidae?

Best wishes,
John

Hello and Thank you, Eric!

I appreciate you taking time to look at this post and reply.
I know very little about Bibionidae. It is nice to have a confirmation.

Best wishes :),

We still use Duda in Lindner.
For Dilophus, there are excellent reviews by J.-P. Haenni.

Thank you, Theo! I appreciate the information. I will seek out this material and study it.
I'll examine the specimen eventually, then i will add helpful pics to the gallery.

Best wishes,
John

Thank You, Theo!
I appreciate your help. I couldn't find any relevant documents by Haenni either. However, i found a Swedish document which contains drawings of male genitalia and fore tibiae. So this is a good start too.

I am happy to have info about D. borealis. However, i don't know much about the author Theo Zeegers. I'll have to research this guy :)

I hope that you have a splendid day,
John

John, if you wish to get Haenni's 1982 paper about Dilophus revision, write me on lib.dvorak[at]seznam.cz
You can get it via "www.uschovna.cz" cloud with instructions how to download. It is a little more than 10 MB file ;-)
