Hi, these flies visit my Eryngium in July since 2015 (close to a deciduous forest with old beeches and oaks, Middle Franconia, Naturpark Frankenhöhe). Is Stomina tachinoides (T&H, MOSCH WEB et al) the correct species? And is tachinoides the only Stomina found in Germany until now?

Well, it is a male Stomina. Very nice find in Germany, where only tachinoides is to be e pected, but these daysm, with climate change, you never know.
I will publish shortly the first records of Peleteria iavana ( = varia) for NL and B. This species reached Germany from the south (Kaiserstuhl !) only in 2011. So (some) Tachinids are heading north rapidly.
Without genitalia, it is difficult to trll the Stomina’s apart.

Hi Theo, thanks a lot again! You are absolutely right: in these days we (and I) find lots of insects that were known for the south, few years ago!
