Am I correct that is a tachinid? Could someone provide a further ID? Found in Suriname.

Looks like a typical Doleschaliini.

Interesting; by searching online for Doleschaliini, I get several leads to this forum where your IDs for Doleschaliini that are very similar to mine turn out to be Sophiini. Doleschaliini also yields very few online photos, with quite a bunch of Sophiini, especially North American Cordyligaster septentrionalis. Could mine be a Cordyligaster too?

Maybe I am wrong, maybe someone split Doleschaliini, since they occur in the Neotropics and Oriental region, which is a bit weird (but not impossible).

Neotropics is not my thing

I need to look into it.

Doleschallini is now confined to the Australasian and Pacific regions if you believe the Canadians, and considering their superior database technology you really have no choice.

I don't have literature for most of the South American species. I expect this is something close to Cordyligaster. If you want to research, see
